Question from Harmony: Hello(: I was just wondering, why do you think that teenagers have the urge to have sex before they’re married? And, assume it’s always safe. I know it sounds really fun, but it won’t be fun when you find out that your condom broke and you’re pregnant. Weezy’s Response: Teenagers have been doing dangerous things for centuries. There is evidence that suggests that the frontal lobe of the brain is not fully developed until the age of 25. This is the area of the brain that controls our ability to reason and to foresee the consequences of our actions. So, teenagers often show very poor judgement. You sound like the acception to this rule, Harmony, but for the most part, parents and teachers and adults in general need to set healthy guidelines and provide loads of interesting and engaging activities which keep kids involved with each other and with their community in safe and productive ways. Yes, kids need increased freedoms to explore who they are and prove that they are responsible, but they also need a lot of guidance to help them make good choices and avoid being burdened forever with the consequences of one wrong move. I know it can seem stifling when you are a kid and you think you know what’s best for you. The biological facts are, you don’t. Listen the most to the people who love you the most. They only want you to have a great life.
